  • Creative Artists and Sportspersons
    This route is for applicants in the creative and sporting sector who are entering the United Kingdom for short term contracts/engagements (up to 12 months).
  • A sportsperson applicant must have a Certificate of Sponsorship from a genuine club, or equivalent, which has a recognised governing body.
  • The sponsor must provide an endorsement from the governing body confirming that:
  • the applicant is internationally established as a player or coach at the highest level
  • the applicant's employment will make a significant contribution to the development of the sport at the highest level in the UK
  • the post could not be filled by a suitable settled worker.
  • A creative artist applicant must operate within dance, theatre, film and television, or as a model in the fashion industry
  • The sponsor must commit to following the code of practice specified in Appendix J of the Immigration Rules and confirm that the post could not be filled by a suitable settled worker.
  • Applicant must demonstrate that the maintenance requirement is met by holding £945 in savings for 90 days, or the sponsor certifies on the Certificate of Sponsorship that the applicant will not claim benefits while in the UK.
  • Charity Workers
    This route is for applicants wanting to undertake unpaid voluntary fieldwork which contributes directly to the achievement or advancement of the sponsor’s charitable purpose in the UK (up to 12 months).
  • Applicant must have a Certificate of Sponsorship from a registered, excepted or exempt UK charity.
  • Applicant must intend to do voluntary work directly relating to the sponsor's purpose and must not be paid or remunerated for this work
  • Applicant must not take up a permananet position and must comply with the conditions of leave
  • Applicant must demonstrate that the maintenance requirement is met by holding £945 in savings for 90 days, or the sponsor certifies on the Certificate of Sponsorship that the applicant will not claim benefits while in the UK.

  • Religious Workers
    This route is for applicants coming to work temporarily (up to 24 months) in the United Kingdom as a religious worker to perform religious rites but not to perform any of the pastoral duties of a Tier 2 Minister of Religion
  • Applicant must have a Certificate of Sponsorship from a genuine religious institution which is a registered, excepted or exempt UK charity.
  • The sponsor must verify that:
  • The applicant will not be displacing a suitable settled worker
  • The applicant will be filling a genuine vacancy
  • The applicant must be qualified for the job
  • The applicant will not take any other employment from the sponsor
  • Applicant must demonstrate that the maintenance requirement is met by holding £945 in savings for 90 days, or the sponsor certifies on the Certificate of Sponsorship that the applicant will not claim benefits while in the UK.
  • Government Authorised Exchange Workers
    This route is for applicants coming to the United Kingdom through approved schemes that aim to share knowledge, experience and best practice through work placements, whilst experiencing the wider social and cultural setting of the United Kingdom.
  • There will be an overarching body to manage the exchange scheme. This overarching body will be the sponsor. The scheme and the overarching body must have the support of a United Kingdom government department.
  • The Overarching Body will certify that:
  • the applicant is seeking entry to the United Kingdom to work or train temporarily through an approved exchange scheme;
  • the applicant does not intend to establish a business in the United Kingdom
  • the applicant meets the requirements of the individual exchange scheme
  • the applicant must be undertaking skilled work at RQF Level 3 or above
  • the applicant's work must not fill vacancies and must be over and above any normal staffing requirements
  • Applicant must demonstrate that the maintenance requirement is met by holding £945 in savings for 90 days, or the sponsor certifies on the Certificate of Sponsorship that the applicant will not claim benefits while in the UK.

  • International Agreement Worker
    This route is for applicants who are coming to the United Kingdom under contract to provide a service covered under international law, including:
  • private servants in diplomatic households;
  • employees of overseas governments and international organisations;
  • the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS); and
  • similar agreements between the United Kingdom or European Union and another country or other countries

  • Seasonal Workers
    This route is for applicants coming to the UK as seasonal workers in the edible horticulture sector through an approved scheme operator. This is a pilot scheme that will run between March 2019 and December 2020.
  • There are currently 2 scheme operators appointed to act as sponsors: Concordia (UK) Ltd and Pro-Force Ltd
  • The scheme operators will certify on the Certificate of Sponsorship that:
  • the applicant is at least 18 years old
  • the applicant will not establish a business in the UK
  • the applicant will only take employment in a seasonal job permitted by this scheme, and with an employer in the horticultural sector
  • the applicant will comply with the conditions of their entry clearance and will leave the UK
  • Applicant must demonstrate that the maintenance requirement is met by holding £945 in savings for 90 days, or the sponsor certifies on the Certificate of Sponsorship that they will maintain and accommodate the applicant up to the end of the first month of employment in the UK if required.

  • Youth Mobility Scheme
    This route is for sponsored young people from participating countries or territories who wish to experience life in the UK.
  • The applicant must be a citizen of an approved participating country or a British Overseas Citizen, Brisitish Overseas Territories Citizen, or British National (Overseas) Citizen
  • The applicant must be between 18 and 30
  • The applicant will need to demonstrate £1890 held in their bank account on the date the application was made
