  • Tier 2 (General)
    This route is for those people who have an offer of a skilled job that cannot be filled by a settled worker. This category includes applicants coming to the UK to fill shortage occupations.
  • Applicant must be 16 or over
  • Applicant must have a job offer that fills a recognised gap in the UK labour force (shortage occupation list; resident labour market test; salary in excess of £159,600).
  • Applicant must have a Certificate of Sponsorship from an organisation that is a licensed sponsor in the UK.
  • Applicant must not own more than 10% of the sponsor’s shares
  • Applicant's job offer must meet the apropriate annual salary
  • Applicant's job skill level must be at graduate level or above (with some exceptions for shortage occupations)
  • Applicant must demonstrate that the maintenance requirement is met by holding £945 in savings for 90 days, or your sponsor certifies on the Certificate of Sponsorship that they will maintain and accommodate you up to the end of your first month of employment in the UK if required.
  • Applicant must have at least a B1 level of English language ability
  • Applicant must pay the Immigration Health Surcharge
  • Applicant must not have been in the UK with entry clearance or leave to remain as a Tier 2 migrant at any time during the 12 months immediately before the application (with some exceptions)
  • Applicant must not fall for refusal under the General Grounds
  • Tier 2 (Intra-Company Transfer)
    This route is for existing employees of a multinational employer who need to be transferred to the UK branch for training purposes or to fill a specific vacancy that cannot be filled by a settled or EEA worker, either on a long term basis or for frequent short visits.
  • There are 2 subcategories:
  • Long Term Staff – if you have been working for your organisation for at least 12 months directly prior to your transfer and are being transferred to a skilled job in the UK to fill a post which cannot be filled by a settled worker. This is for a period of up to a maximum of 5 years. There are more flexible rules for high earners.
  • Graduate Trainee – if you are a recent graduate recruit being transferred to a UK branch of your organisation for the purpose of training. (This route must not be used to fill long-term posts). You must be coming to the UK for a maximum period of 12 months as part of a structured graduate training programme with clearly defined progression towards a managerial or specialist role within your organisation.
  • Applicant must be 16 or over
  • Applicant must have a job offer that will not be displacing a suitable settled worker.
  • Applicant's job skill level must be at graduate level or above, or the job is a creative sector occupation skilled to RQF level 4
  • Applicant must have a Certificate of Sponsorship from an organisation that is a licensed sponsor in the UK.
  • Applicant's job offer must meet the apropriate annual salary
  • Applicant must demonstrate that the maintenance requirement is met by holding £945 in savings for 90 days, or your sponsor certifies on the Certificate of Sponsorship that they will maintain and accommodate you up to the end of your first month of employment in the UK if required.
  • Applicant must pay the Immigration Health Surcharge
  • Applicant will be subject to the cooling off rules
  • Applicant must not fall for refusal under the General Grounds

  • Tier 2 (Ministers of Religion)
    This route is for a Minister of Religion undertaking preaching and pastoral work, a Missionary or a Member of a Religious Order taking up employment or a post/role within a faith community in the UK.
  • Applicant must have a Certificate of Sponsorship from a genuine religious institution which is a registered, excepted or exempt UK charity, or is an ecclesiastical corporation
  • Applicant must be qualified to do the job in question
  • Sponsor must confirm that the Applicant will not be displacing or denying an employment opportunity to a suitably qualified member of the resident labour force
  • Applicant must intend yo be based in the UK for the duration of any limited leave
  • Applicant must intend to depart the UK when the leave expires
  • Sponsor must undertake to support the applicant throughout the duration of the Certificate of Sponsorship
  • Applicant must have at least a B2 level of English language ability
  • Applicant must pay the Immigration Health Surcharge
  • Applicant must not fall for refusal under the General Grounds
  • Tier 2 (Sportspersons)
    This route is for an elite sportsperson or coach whose employment will make a significant contribution to the development of that sport at the highest level in the UK.
  • Applicant must have a Certificate of Sponsorship from a genuine club, or equivalent, which has a recognised governing body.
  • The sponsor must provide an endorsement from the governing body confirming that:
  • the applicant is internationally established as a player or coach at the highest level
  • the applicant's employment will make a significant contribution to the development of the sport at the highest level in the UK
  • the applicant intends to be based in the UK for the duration of the permission to stay
  • the post could not be filled by a suitable settled worker.
  • Applicant must demonstrate that the maintenance requirement is met by holding £945 in savings for 90 days, or the sponsor certifies on the Certificate of Sponsorship that they will maintain and accommodate the applicant up to the end of the first month of employment in the UK if required.
  • Applicant must have at least an A1 level of English language ability
  • Applicant must pay the Immigration Health Surcharge
  • Applicant must not fall for refusal under the General Grounds
